Mous Signed To Make Jammu and Kashmir Power Surplus Region via Hydro Power

Several Memorandums of Understanding  were signed on 10th January for execution of much awaited Mega Hydro Power projects, in a bid to make Jammu and Kashmir a power surplus region in the country.

“It was a Historic day as mega hydro power projects to make Jammu and Kashmir a power surplus region in the country. MoUs signed for execution of 850 MW Ratle HEP and 930 MW Kirthai-II HEP; execution of Sawalkot HEP 1856 MW, Uri-I Stage-II 240 MW and Dulhasti Stage-II 258 MW,” Jammu and Kashmir’s directorate of information and public relations said in a tweet.
 
According to an official release, the Memorandums of Understandings were signed between Power Development Department (PDD), Jammu and Kashmir; National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd and Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation, in the presence of RK Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Power; Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, and Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS, PMO.
 
The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of as many as nineteen important projects of Power Development Department aimed at greater power generation, efficient transmission and better distribution of power supply in Jammu and Kashmir during the Mega inauguration ceremony, the release said.
