India's green transition gets a boost of Rs 150 crore: Over 300 jobs to be created by a new solar panel manufacturing plant

As per a report by PTI, the facility was officially launched by Union Minister C. R.  Patil. The plant has an annual production capacity of 24,000 metric tonnes, which is capable of supporting up to 6 GW of solar power installations across India, according to a statement from the company.

In a major advancement for local manufacturing and job creation in the renewable energy industry, H&H Aluminium has opened a solar panel frame production facility in Rajkot, Gujarat, valued at Rs 150 crores. Covering an area of 28,000 square meters, the plant is projected to create over 300 job opportunities and facilitate annual sales reaching Rs 700–750 crores when operating at full capacity.

"This will be the biggest and most sophisticated solar panel aluminium frame facility in India, all situated in one location, and we successfully completed the installation in an impressive time frame of around a year," stated H&H Aluminium Director Uttam Patel, as reported by PTI.

Production trials at the Rajkot facility started in June 2025, with commercial activities anticipated to commence in approximately a month. Once up and running, the plant will greatly lessen India’s reliance on imported aluminium frames for solar panels, which currently accounts for 90–95 percent, Patel pointed out.

This facility represents an important advancement toward self-sufficiency. It will bolster the 'Make in India' campaign and enhance domestic production within the solar energy value chain, he noted.

India aims to achieve a goal of having 500 GW of renewable energy capacity installed by 2030, with 280 GW anticipated to be generated from solar energy. This initiative is part of India's larger commitment to minimize its carbon emissions and move towards a more sustainable future, with the intention of attaining energy self-sufficiency through clean energy sources.

“This presents a significant chance for the solar energy sector and related industries in the coming 5 to 10 years,” remarked Vijay Kaneria, a director at H&H Aluminium, as reported by PTI.
