Egypt Urges Indian Manufacturers to Expand through Local Production and Export Hubs

Egypt aims to expand industrial collaboration with India by attracting greater investment from Indian manufacturers and industrial developers, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said following a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance industrial collaboration and unlock investment potential in strategic sectors, including renewable energy, food processing, automotive, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries.

According to Hashem, Egypt plans to build on its strong political and economic partnership with India by fostering private-sector cooperation and expanding the involvement of the Egyptian-Indian Business Council to drive industrial projects.

The minister said Egypt welcomes both large and medium-sized Indian companies to establish a presence in the country, adding that the government aims to benefit from India's advanced industrial expertise to strengthen local workforce skills and deepen industrial collaboration between the two nations.

He outlined Egypt’s key advantages for investors, citing its strategic location, broad network of trade agreements that provide access to global markets, a skilled labour force, and a range of government-backed investment incentives.

The minister called for enhanced coordination between the Ministry of Industry and the Indian Embassy to attract additional Indian manufacturers, with the goal of establishing Egypt as a regional production and export base for Africa and nearby markets.

Hashem said successful Indian investments in Egypt could pave the way for additional companies to enter the market. He also proposed encouraging Indian industrial developers to establish new industrial zones under Egypt’s industrial developer model to address the rising demand for fully serviced industrial land.

Ambassador Reddy said Indian companies regard Egypt as a key strategic partner and an ideal regional base for manufacturing, exports, and investment, pointing to the country's strategic location and economic reforms that have boosted investor confidence.

Reddy also pointed to the success of Indian investments in Egypt, including TCI Sanmar Chemicals, as evidence of the expanding industrial partnership and growing economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Reddy invited Hashem to attend the BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting and proposed holding a roundtable with Indian industrial companies to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt while highlighting the government’s incentives for establishing or expanding manufacturing projects.
