An international healthcare provider with operations throughout Africa, including hospitals, medical centers, consulting, pharmaceutical distribution and medical travel, UniHealth Hospitals Limited (NSE-UNIHEALTH) has announced the opening of its second healthcare facility in India. This 200-bed, state-of-the-art multispecialty tertiary care hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra, is expected to be put into service at the beginning of the following year.
With its state-of-the-art facilities, comprehensive specialty services, and cutting-edge medical technology, the UMC Hospital in Nashik is envisioned as a next-generation healthcare destination that would redefine healthcare access for North Maharashtra and the surrounding areas.
Another significant turning point in UniHealth's development is this expansion. The Group is getting ready to open its first Indian hospital, the 52-bed UMC Hospital in Navi Mumbai, in October 2025. The Group already runs its flagship tertiary care center, UMC Victoria Hospital, in Kampala, Uganda. By the end of 2025, a 20-bed UMC Health Center in Mwanza, Tanzania, will also be open. These initiatives collectively demonstrate UniHealth's dedication to creating an integrated healthcare system in Africa and India.
To address the community's changing healthcare demands, the new Nashik hospital will house a broad range of specialties and super-specialties. It will include 24-hour Accident & Emergency services, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility, and sophisticated diagnostic and imaging capabilities.
Dr. Akshay Parmar, the founder and managing director of UniHealth Hospitals, commented on the performance stating."The launch of our second Indian facility in Nashik marks a proud milestone in our journey. With 200 beds and a wide suite of specialities, this will be one of the most advanced hospitals in Maharashtra. Nashik is fast emerging as a healthcare hub, and our facility will not only serve the city but also benefit patients from across North Maharashtra and neighbouring states. We are bringing in cutting-edge technology, expert clinicians, and a patient-first culture to ensure healthcare that is both world-class and affordable. This expansion reflects our mission to transform access to quality healthcare across India and Africa. Alongside our operational facilities in Uganda and Tanzania, we are now set to commission three significant projects in FY 2025-26, our first facility in Navi Mumbai, our second in Nashik, and a new health center in Mwanza, Tanzania strengthening UniHealth's position as a trusted healthcare partner across emerging Markets
