India and Kenya in Talks to Accelerate the Transformation of Pharmaceuticals, Medtech and Digital Health.

Adarsh Swaika, the Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, recently met with senior Kenyan ministers to review current initiatives and look into new ways to work together to advance digital transformation and affordable healthcare.

India and Kenya reportedly had a number of high-level meetings this week in an effort to strengthen collaboration in the technology and healthcare industries.

Mutual interest in the development of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, capacity building, digital innovation and technology-led development was revealed during the engagement.

Additionally, the envoy met with Kenya's Cabinet Secretary of Health, Aden Duale, to discuss healthcare.

The Indian High Commissioner stated that the meeting's main goals were to increase cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, equipment and human resource development.

This is while India continues to be Kenya's "trusted and long-standing partner" in the pharmaceutical and medical fields.

The Mission also reaffirmed that thousands of Kenyans visit India annually for medical tourism, drawn by the country's cutting-edge facilities, well-established medical knowledge and relatively affordable treatment rates.

The Indian envoy also met with William Kabogo, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, to discuss proposals to strengthen India-Kenya cooperation in the ICT sector, emerging technologies, digital skilling and innovation, as well as follow-up actions for early implementation of ongoing projects.

Deeper cooperation between startups and technology ecosystems in both nations was also covered.

Kabogo cited the modernization of the national broadcaster KBC and the creation of strong ICT infrastructure as examples of how the meeting confirmed the necessity of expanding technological collaborations in order to accelerate Kenya's digital transformation.
