India to Expand Market Access for Pharmaceutical Exporters in Africa

In order improve market access for Indian pharmaceutical exporters in Africa, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India has announced a physical business missions to Kenya, Ghana and Angola. The organization will schedule meetings with trade associations and industry representatives in the three countries, along with Buyer-Seller Meets (BSMs) and regulatory meetings.

The program has been confirmed under the provisions of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Export Promotion Mission (EPM) program.

Pharmexcil confirmed that after discussing with the respective Indian Missions, recommended visits and dates were confirmed and verified. Africa remains to be an important market for Indian pharmaceutical products, especially active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and generics. The delegation's aim is to provide Indian businesses a platform to network, learn about market and legal requirements, and explore opportunities for export partnerships.

According to Pharmexcil Director General Raja Bhanu, the initiative is designed to facilitate direct engagement between Indian pharmaceutical companies and potential consumers, institutional buyers, and other stakeholders across African markets. Bhanu noted that participating companies will be able to interact directly with buyers, trade associations, and regulatory authorities in Kenya, Ghana, and Angola, while also exploring new business opportunities in these markets.

The delegation will arrive in Nairobi, Kenya to start the program. Following the BSM and inauguration ceremony on November 30, there will be meetings with government officials, trade associations, and members of the industry, including representatives from regulatory agencies and health ministries.

The delegation will proceed to Accra, Ghana for the inauguration followed by meetings with trade associations, industry representatives, and relevant health and regulatory authorities. Follow-up meetings are planned later on.

The third leg of the delegation’s visit will be in Luanda, Angola, the inauguration ceremony and BSM will take place on December 7, along with meetings with trade associations, industry representatives, and relevant government and regulatory officials. The delegation is scheduled to depart on either December 8 or 9.

Members are required to complete the mandatory registration form by September 30, 2026. Upon registration, the prescribed participation fee must be remitted in favour of the “Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India.” Participation will be considered confirmed only upon receipt of the payment.
