In order to take advantage of a growing multipolar world, diplomats and policy experts advised India and African countries to increase their collaboration in renewable energy, vital minerals, technology, power, and skill development. However, they cautioned that geopolitical unpredictability could change international alliances.
During a talk on India-Africa Relations in a New World Order, former Indian ambassador Manju Seth stated that the world system was changing significantly and that Africa will become a crucial pillar alongside India and other big powers.
A new global order is still evolving, Seth stated. Africa and India are two of the cornerstones in an endeavor to establish a multipolar world. However, we cannot be positive about how it will develop. Without a doubt, Africa will play a significant role in that new global order.
According to her, the African Union, which reflects the diversity of the continent's 54 countries, would exercise Africa's growing power collectively rather than by any one nation. She contended that rather than focusing on geopolitical rivalry, India should establish long-term alliances with Africa based on common development goals.
Experts emphasized the importance of renewable energy, citing the International Solar Alliance as a crucial forum for cooperation. Indian businesses are already establishing pump assembly facilities and solar equipment in a number of African nations, and collaboration in hydropower projects is growing
Another crucial area where India and African nations might strengthen their relationship is critical minerals, which are necessary for renewable energy technology and electric vehicles. According to speakers, partnerships should put more emphasis on value addition and local processing than just exporting raw commodities. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), which collaborates with African nations like Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, Ghana, and Nigeria, is another example of the rising cooperation in space technology mentioned by the panel. Capacity building was described as one of India’s strongest contributions to Africa
India's support for changing the U.N. Security Council to give African nations more representation was also discussed, with a focus on energy, technology, security, and agriculture as areas that need ongoing involvement.
Speakers concurred that the changing geopolitical landscape offers India and Africa a chance to forge a stronger strategic alliance based on clean energy, technology, trade, and human capital, even though it is unclear how the global order will change
